Restaurant Name: Legacy Kitchen Neighborhood: Warehouse District Ambiance: Modern Industrial Name of the Burger Ordered: Legacy Burger Price of the Burger(s): $16 Size of the Burger: 8 oz Temperature: Cooked to Order We wanted to start this rating with a note that the night we went to Legacy Kitchen, we were planning to rate Cochon Butcher's Le Pig Mac. However, that plan was quashed when we ran into some TERRIBLE customer service at CB. And I cannot stress just HOW terrible, awful, and atrocious it was. Long story short, one of our raters has a food allergy and was requesting a small tweak to the way the burger was prepared. The response to the request was dripping with arrogance and smugness. I know their food is great, but we all (should) know that customer experience is king, and this place just simply didn't get it. It will be a long time before any of us venture back there </rant>. Now, back to Legacy! It wasn't the plan for the night, but we were pleasantly surprised to find a friendly, eager waiter, and a menu chock-full of delicious red meat. We opted for the signature, "Legacy Burger," and anxiously awaited a meal that would rid our mouth's of the bad taste left by Cochon Butcher. We were all pleasantly surprised by the offering, and combined with the proximity to work and trendy atmosphere, we left big fans of a place we knew very little of before that night!
Legacy Burger: 8.05 Bun: 7.6 Different is good. So we all enjoyed the poppy seed bun that Legacy Kitchen opted for instead of the same old, same old. Could have been a tinyyy bit squishier, but the size made up for it. Held together well in the face of the medium rareness it was tasked with containing. Patty: 8.2 Definitely holds its own among our current list of Burget Meet rated burgers. Patty oozed juice when pressed down on, it was well-seasoned, and we could tell the meat was fresh. Bun to Meat Ratio: 8.4 Big bun for a big burger. Most of us thought it fit like a glove, but a few raters had some extra bread on the periphery of their patty, which knocked it down a few points. Standard Toppings: 8.8 The Legacy Burger came standard with mushrooms, grilled onions, swiss cheese, and a garlic aioli. Spicy pickles on the side offered an extra kick. Most of us felt that the topping combo blended perfectly. If we're being extra critical, we would have liked the cheese to have been melted a little more, and gotten a slightly more generous portion of mushies. Sides: 6.6 Burger came with pretty standard thin, extra crispy fries. They were just a'ight, and got cold quickly. Taste: 8.4 Verdict was that Legacy's offering was solid. Toppings were on point, and combined with a well-cooked, juicy patty, the result was a burger that exceeded our expectations. Accuracy: 9.4 As with most of our Burger Meet outings, there's always one or two raters that end up with a burger that is cooked SLIGHTLY beyond their prefer temperature - and it's usually one of our medium-rare folks. Legacy almost nailed it though, so we only docked it a few points. Value: 6.8 We had a tough time with this category. While it's nice that Legacy throws in a bunch of (often) premium toppings, and fries, we still felt it was a bit pricey. Not so pricey that we wouldn't pay for it though, especially since it sits in a trendy, up-and-coming area where we expect to pay a little more. Service: 8.8 Server was super friendly (which is always a plus!), but almost a little too friendly. He lingered around the table, refilled our waters at least 10 times, and while he tried hard to make conversation he was a little bit spacey when we needed him the most. Returnability: 7.4 Most raters agreed that while they wouldn't necessarily go out of their way for the Legacy's burger, if they were in the Warehouse District and looking for a cool looking spot with a tasty burger, Legacy would be top on that list. However, there ARE a few other Warehouse District burger spots we have yet to hit up...so stay tuned! Want to see how Legacy Kitchen ranks? Check out our overall Burger Meet rankings.
