![]() Restaurant Name: Mondo Neighborhood: Lakeview Ambiance: Suburban Chic Name of the Burger Ordered: Mondo Burger Price of the Burger(s): $13 (+ $2 for cheese) Size of the Burger: 8 oz Temperature: Cooked to order iMondo had a VERY good burger that could have really been something special if it wasn’t for the bun situation (see below for details). Despite this, the Mondo Burger received the highest score we've given thus far. Raters who had previously eaten this burger said that our bun experience was a bit of an anomaly, so it's possible that this burger is normally even better.
Mondo Burger: 7.61 Bun: 5.2 The bun was so greasy and buttery that the waiters should have handed out beach towels instead of napkins. It was reminiscent of the famous cheese steak places in Philadelphia where the grease soaks through the paper. Our rating sheets were transparent in places from being handled with so many buttery fingers. Patty: 9.0 The patty was fantastic, with 5 of the 7 raters giving it a score of 9 or higher. It was nicely seasoned and cooked just right. We even had a few raters order a medium-rare patty which can sometimes be tough for busy restaurants - but Mondo nailed it. Bun to Meat Ratio: 8.3 The bun to meat ratio was also very good, and probably would have been ideal if the bun had not been so soggy. The sogginess caused the bottom bun fall apart, so a bigger bun would have helped keep the things in tact. Standard Toppings: 7.7 The only topping that came standard was griddled onions, which most thought were good. We also opted to add white cheddar cheese, which was delish (but an additional $2). Most thought that mushrooms would have been a great touch for this burger. They were available for another $2, which begins to make this burger awfully pricey. Sides: 7.5 The Mondo Burger comes with fries, and we all agreed it was a solid fry. Taste: 8.3 As mentioned above, it was an incredibly tasty burger that was held down only by the bun. Accuracy: 8.8 One rater's burger was a bit overcooked. Everyone else's was on point though, so we only docked them a couple of points. Value: 6.8 $13 is a very fair price considering that it comes with fries and is somewhat trendy ("suburban chic"). However, the burger needs some additional toppings, which come at a premium. Basic cheese puts you at $15 and mushrooms (which would really hit the spot) get you up to $17. Add bacon and you're at a $20 burger, which is quite the premium. Service: 7.0 Staff was friendly and attentive. However, other tables seemed to be getting bread, and we did not. Ultimately we weren't sure if bread comes standard or if diners were ordering it. Our server also brought out the wrong beers a couple of times. Finally, it's pretty standard these days for restaurants to ask large parties if they want separate checks, or at least offer to split it once the bill comes, but our server brought one check for the table which made paying a little more tedious. Returnability: 8.0 Everyone rated between a 7-9. Definitely a solid spot when you're looking to treat yourself with a burger on the premium end. Want to see how Mondo ranks?
