![]() Restaurant Name: The Store Neighborhood: CBD Ambiance: Quick Lunch Spot Name of the Burger Ordered: Cheddar Burger Price of the Burger: $8.50 (+ $2.50 for fries) Size of the Burger: 7.5 oz Temperature: Medium (cooked at Med-Well unless requested) Most raters thought the Cheddar Burger was average to good; one rater was adamant it wasn't worth the calories and left half the burger on the plate. The general consensus was that The Store is a solid (and very popular) CBD lunch spot that has a lot of options on its menu (soups, salads, taco bar (!)) that are worth getting before you try the burger.
As a side note, a couple of our raters split The Store's Rich Man Burger in addition to rating the Cheddar Burger with the group. It's worth your money if you like brie and bacon, and have the flexibility to slip into a food-induced coma after lunch. Advice is to split it. And go home immediately afterwards and take a nap. Cheddar Burger: 6.53 Bun: 5.8 It was an onion bun (different is good!) that felt like something you'd get in the bread aisle at a grocery store (this is bad!). It was burnt, but we didn't feel that negatively impacted the taste. Speaking of taste, it was just ok, and it didn't hold its form well. Patty: 7.0 The patty was one of the stronger points of the burger, with all but one rater giving it a 7 or an 8. It was well seasoned, fairly juicy, had good flavor, and was a nice size/shape. Bun to Meat Ratio: 7.2 Decent ratio, with a little more bun to meat at times. However, because the bun didn't hold its form well, the burger kind of felt like it was on flatbread rather than on a true hamburger bun. Standard Toppings: 5.0 Now that we paid our compliments to the patty, here is where things took a negative turn. The lettuce and tomato were weak (i.e. pale pink tomato, ick). The white cheddar was shredded versus sliced (maybe a New Orleans thing?!), but it got lost in the rest of the burger. Everyone was excited about trying "The Spread" (quotes courtesy of The Store), but we couldn't taste it all. Literally didn't know it was there or what flavor it was supposed to be. Advice: don't tout (and quote) your special sauce if it's forgettable/unrecognizable. Sides: 3.8 Yeesh, it's hard for fries to be below average, but these were just NOT GOOD. The Store ingredient buyers (technical term) must have made a stop in the freezer section of the same grocery store they bought the buns from. To everyone's disappointment, we left fries on the plates (gasp!), simply preferring not to eat them. To be fair, the sweet potato fries were pretty good, but we rated the standard side, and these pieces of toaster oven cardboard didn't do the trick. Taste: 6.6 There was a wide range of opinion on overall taste. The majority of raters thought the burger came together well and was tasty. A few others thought it was just ok, and one had to eat a second lunch back at the office because she didn't finish her meal at The Store. Accuracy: 7.0 A few us asked for our burgers cooked to medium and didn't get them that way; The Store usually cooks everything medium-well, so maybe they aren't used to people changing it up. However, don't offer the option to change it if you're aren't able to honor it. Additionally, while The Store can get PACKED during lunchtime, it was not that busy when we visited, so really no excuse. Value: 7.0 $8.50 for the burger becomes $11 with the side. Similar price to a fast casual place, but The Store is a little bit higher quality establishment than your basic fast casual joint. Service: 9.0 We asked the cashier a lot of questions which he went out of his way to answer. The number system worked well and the food came out fast. Returnability: 5.6 Interesting dilemma. We come to The Store often for work lunches, but wouldn't make a trip here to get the burger when The Store has better options on its own menu AND there are better burger options nearby. That being said, if someone told us they were going to The Store and were going to get the burger, we wouldn't stop them. That adds up to a score around 5. Want to see how The Store ranks?
